UPEI athletic director Ron Annear has nothing but praise for Taylor in the Charlottetown Guardian:
"Dylan Taylor is one of the finest individuals I know ... From the moment he arrived on campus as a student-athlete through to his years as coach, he put all his energy into rebuilding the men’s hockey program with character, accountability and pride. The university is very proud of what Dylan has accomplished and wishes him the very best."Taylor was a long-time Panther, having captained the team. He was in his fourth season and the team is semi-halfway respectable at 4-4-2 overall.
There's speculation at HFBoards. It sounds like the truth, not necessarily the whole truth but something like it, should come out in time.
Additional Note: According to Hockeyscene.com:
There are unconfirmed reports of a player rebellion over some type of disciplinary action. Those reports say that some of the players had refused to play unless the coach was replaced as soon as possible and that some were planning to leave UPEI during the Christmas break that begins at the end of the month. Radio reports in Charlottetown said a couple of the players quit the team.

Actually Taylor is in his fifth season behind the bench at UPEI - I believe I made a mistake in my AUS preview and said he was in his fourth season.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to talk to Dylan Friday and try to find out about the rumblings for a few weeks now about Greg O'Brien and Jordan Knox, who haven't played this season. Both, perhaps not coincidentally, are from PEI. Guess we won't be having that chat now.
