Basketball: Vancouver baller Kong yet to enter U.S.

The Bol Kong saga — short, short version, he would be a junior at Gonzaga now if he had been born in Canada or the U.S. — is only semi-tangentially related to CIS basketball. At the same time, it's crying for attention:
"Gonzaga is waiting for the arrival of Canada's Bol Kong, who has been in Vancouver awaiting a visa to enter the United States. Kong is originally from Sudan and has lived in Canada since he was 7. Kong has 12 days from the start of the fall semester to be admitted and eligible. To make that deadline, Kong would have to be on campus by the end of next week." — Andy Katz, ESPN.com

Gonzaga's academic calendar says the fall semester started Sept. 1. If Katz began his count on Monday, end of next week make senses.

At some point, one would think Kong would just decide he has to play somewhere. He has been previously rumoured to be headed for St. FX and Trinity Western.

Meantime, cishoops.ca's capsule of the Trinity Western Spartans is posted.
