One fringe benefit of TSN having the semi-final bowls and Vanier Cup is that Duane Forde would presumably be commenting university football once again, as he did so well during his years at The Score. His first stab at rankings for next season's CFL draft have three CIS players in the Top 5: Concordia linebacker Cory Greenwood (a Kingston native), Concordia slotback Cory Watson and St. Francis Xavier wideout Akeem Foster.
A lot will change between now and April, but if closet draftniks might want to click through. One noteworthy part of Forde's list is that neither No. 1 Laval nor No. 2 Western is represented. A lot of Mustangs' core group is still a year or two away from being eligible for the draft.
Queen's linebacker Shomari Williams, Guelph kicker-punter Rob Maver, Laurier rush end Chima Ihekwoaba and cornerback Taurean Allen, Manitoba d-tackle Eddie Steele and Montréal linebacker Joash Gesse are also in Forde's top 15.
