Morning rounds ... Saint Mary's looks to air it out

FOOTBALL
  • No. 4 Saint Mary's realizes you have to be good at everything. The pre-season focus is on Jack "Hec" Creighton, a 6-foot-4 pocket passer, beginning his first full season as the starting QB. Carl Hardwick and Jahmeek Murray are some inviting targets.

The eastern Huskies would not mind seeing Calgary' Blake Nill and Erik Glavic come to Halifax for a Uteck Bowl. (Metro Canada)

St. FX has the tall task of trying to win the Loney Bowl in the first season under a new coach, but it does return almost everyone on defence including the awesome linebacker, Henoc Muamba. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald)

  • Everything you wanted to know about the Regina-Saskatchewan game, which is 7 p.m. Mountain start on Friday. The U of S Huskies are already down three tailbacks and two receivers are doubtful. (Huskies Football Outsiders)

  • Over in the OUA, Western defensive coordinator Paul Gleason admits his unit has some chinks in the armour, particularly in the back eight (linebackers and defensive backs). Ottawa gained 542 yards on Sunday vs. the No. 2-ranked 'Stangs. (London Free Press)

  • Five years in the OUA and Guelph's quarterback is still being called "Jason" Dunk by his hometown newspaper. At least the reporter did not switch the first letters in Justin Dunk's name. (Guelph Mercury)
