Hockey: Ex-Golden Bear moves behind NHL bench

Coming Down The Pipe! makes a great point. The shake-up in Ottawa today with the Senators means another former CIS hockey player is coaching in the NHL.

Cory Clouston, who's going to coach out the season with the Senators after the can was tied to Craig Hartsburg.

Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock played at McGill. Montreal Canadiens assistant coach Kirk Muller coached at Queen's, while Florida assistant Jim Hulton was at RMC. There are others, no doubt.

Clouston played for the U of A when it won the University Cup in 1991-92.

  1. Clouston scored a hat-trick for the Golden Bears in their 9-1 route of UQTR at Nationals in 1991-92.
He was a third liner that lacked the offensive touch of his brother Shawn who played on Alberta's 1985-86 U. Cup team.
Cory has ascended quickly as a coach.
Well-organized, believes in process with decent attention to detail.
