Basketball: St. John's confirms dates for Montréal-Ottawa visit

The Big East's St. John's Red Storm have confirmed their schedule for a foreign excursion on Labour Day weekend (see previous post). No doubt people knew, but it's always good to put it front of people closer to the date:

  • at McGill, Saturday, Sept. 5, 1 p.m.
  • at UQAM, Saturday, Sept. 5, 5 p.m.
  • at Carleton, Sunday, Sept. 6, 1 p.m.
  • at Ottawa, Sunday, Sept. 6, 8:30 p.m.

St. John's, under coach Norm Roberts, is coming off a promising season in the crazy competitive Big East, where it earned its first tournament win since 2003. Its core group returns almost intact (97% of scoring and 95% of rebounding), plus its newcomers, including two, freshmen 6-4 left-handed swingman Omari Lawrence and point guard Malik Stith. (As a Syracuse Orange fan, it's good to KTE, know the enemy.)

The Ravens and Gee-Gees host Towson on Aug. 17-18. The Carleton and Ottawa women's teams host the Vermont Catamounts the following week.
