It's nothing more than a bit of fun on a Monday, but our preseason polls have finally closed, and the large Saskatoon audience on this site has stuffed the ballot for the Huskies.
(We don't actually know if that's true; it's more of a joke about how few people are willing to bet against Laval in football anymore.)
To recap how we got here:
Saskatchewan, Laval, and Saint Mary's easily topped the polls for their respective conferences, but it took some time for the OUA to be resolved. Laurier, McMaster, Ottawa, Queen's, and Western all had respectable showings in the first round of voting, with first Mac, then Queen's being eliminated. In the three-way third round, the Gees-Gees took home more than half the vote over the Hawks and Mustangs.
The hypothetical bowl games then made for fairly decisive polls: Laval over Ottawa and west Huskies over east Huskies, the home team winning in both cases.
Then for the Vanier Cup, the trend reversed, as Laval were predicted to lose, at Stade PEPS, to the Saskatchewan Huskies. (It wouldn't be the first time in 2010 that the U of S beat a #1 seed and won a championship.)
For those who are still interested at this point, the predicted standings in each division would look something like this:
Manitoba and UBC in some order
York / Windsor / Toronto in some order
Concordia / Bishop's / Sherbrooke in some order
Mount Allison and Acadia in some order
