UPEI mulls bringing back football

Talk of football returning to the University of Prince Edward Island sort of came out of left field.

A stadium is being built in Charlottetown for the 2009 Canada Summer Games, which takes care of a major part of the equation. Some of the dot-orgers have also noted that there's more high school and spring football in the Maritimes than there was just five years ago, which would help with recruiting.

Again, it's very preliminary, but you'll never hear an argument against another school starting football. As noted about a year-plus ago, it is one way of keeping young men interested in higher education, which is a bit of a problem in some precincts.
