Football: Ethier steps aside as Laval offensive coordinator

Say it once and get it out of your system: Laval will have a new quarterback and now a new offensive coordinator with the departure of Justin Ethier, so they might only go 8-1 in the QUFL next season.

Ethier was one of the longest-serving coaches for the Rouge et Or and put countless hours into the job. His official reason was wanting a chance after 20 years of going "100 miles per hour" as a football coach, which is understandable. It is not something you can do a half speed.

Marco Iadeluca of the Ontario Football Conference's St. Leonard Cougars will take the reins as the OC in QC. The fine print is that Ethier will stay on in some capacity with Laval, which is hosting the 2010 Vanier Cup.

People might read into this that Laval had to tie the can to someone after being consigned to spectator status for the Vanier Cup. Not knowing for sure, one can also take Ethier at his word. There is a ton of pressure in CIS coaching.
