Football: Idonije gets revenge of Federkeil, kind of

It's kind of odd how this worked out: Israel Idonije helped the Chicago Bears pull off a Week 1 upset in the Sunday nighter in the NFL, beating the Indianapolis Colts and Dan Federkeil 29-13.

Twenty-four hours earlier there was a slightly less monumental upset involving the two CIS-trained NFLers' alma maters -- Federkeil's old Calgary Dinos beat Idonije's Manitoba Bisons on Saturday, ending the U of M's two-year conference winning streak.

(Oh, and there was that small matter of Indy beating Chicago in Super Bowl XLI in early 2007.)

Federkeil, who started at right guard on a banged-up Colts offensive line, was lined up against Idonije on several occasions on Sunday. It would probably have to be scored a stalemate. The Colts' line, with Peyton Manning limited, didn't have a great game as Indy was held below 300 yards. Idonije was credited with one tackle and a pass deflection as for one night at least, the Bears' D recovered its 2005-06 form.
