Women's Basketball: National Top Ten Tracker

The #1 Windsor Lancers opened their regular-season schedule in stunning fashion this past weekend, hammering both Laurentian and York by near-40-point spreads. On Friday night the Lancers stormed through the Lions 89-49, a game in which second-year forward and previous ROTY Jessica Clemençon bagged a monster game that included 27 points, six rebounds and five assists -- all three stats of which were unmatched by any player on either team. Against Laurentian, 2nd-year PG Miah-Marie Langois led all scorers with 17 points in the 80-43 victory, while Jessica Clemençon added 15 and Iva Peklova matched her 14 points with a massive 14 boards. For Laurentian, Erin Simpson finished with 11 points on 4-11 from the floor (and 1-2 from behind the arc). The Lancers remain undefeated at 6-0 in the preseason and 2-0 in league play.

They may be #2, but they sure sound like #1: the Victoria Vikes posted similarly dominant scores this past weekend, thundering their way through the Manitoba Bisons 88-41 and 86-40 on Friday and Saturday night, respectively. On Friday, Debbie Yeboah led all scorers with 23 points, while senior Kayla Dykstra added 15. The next night, Yeboah cracked the top 2 again, following Dykstra's 18 with 15 of her own (to a well-deserved Happy Birthday). For the Bisons, Sheree Carmona-Galdamez led her team with 12. The Vikes are 6-0 so far on the season.
