Hockey: Sorochan in copper and blue?

There's a push on for the Edmonton Oilers to sign Alberta's all-Canadian goalie, Aaron Sorochan, as a free agent.
"... Sorochan is sitting right under the noses of Oilers management.

The homegrown stopper, a two-time CIS all-star who backstopped the Alberta Golden Bears to two national titles, has finished his studies at the University of Alberta and is looking for a place to play.

Besides, it’s not like the Oilers don’t know about the 25-year-old Sorochan — they invited him to camp a few years ago and even signed him to an amateur tryout contract in December 2007 to back up Mathieu Garon against New Jersey after (Dwayne) Roloson was shelved by the flu." — OilersNation.com
Coming Down The Pipe! has also expressed hope the Oilers would take a flier on Sorochan.

  1. Would not be a stretch to see this guy on an AHL roster in the near future. He is a late bloomer and has the ability to move post to post exceptionally well. He performed well in big games and put up solid numbers in the WHL in his final few seasons on good teams. He has great confidence in his own ability and is a true competitor. The best goalie in the nation last year by all accounts and far and away was the best in Canada West. Nothing to lose by giving him a shot.
