Liveblog: Canada West Final Four

It's the end of the line for men's basketball in the Canada West conference this weekend at the Final Four, hosted by UBC. No. 6 Calgary faces No. 9 SFU in one semifinal (5:00 Pacific), while No. 1 UBC plays No. 10 Saskatchewan in the second match (7:00 Pacific). With the awards handed out, all that's left to find out is which two teams will win tonight to advance to the CIS Championships two weeks from now in Ottawa. A few subplots this weekend to look for:

  • In their final season in the CIS, can SFU defeat Calgary and advance to their first national championship?

  • Way back in November, Showron Glover scored 34 points for the Huskies against UBC, but lost the game 90–83. Can he repeat the performance tonight and get a little bit more help from his teammates?

  • Will the pressure of hosting be too much for UBC? In the past four years, they've lost the two championships they hosted (in 2006 and 2009), and won the two they were on the road for ('07 and '08).

Calgary won the first semifinal 82-69, and now up is UBC vs. Saskatchewan.
