Football: Stingers' Greenwood No. 2 on CFL draft watch list

Plenty of CIS representation on the CFL's top prospects list for next spring's Canadian college draft:
  • No. 2: Concordia LB Cory Greenwood
  • No. 4: Queen's DE Shomari Williams
  • No. 6: Concordia WR Cory Watson
  • No. 7: Guelph K-P Rob Maver
  • No. 8: Montreal LB Joash Gesse
  • No. 9: St. FX WR Akeem Foster
  • No. 12: Manitoba DT Eddie Steele
  • No. 13: Laurier CB Taurean Allen
  • No. 14: Laurier DE Chima Ihekwoaba
The understanding is Calgary QB Erik Glavic has already passed through the draft, so he could only come to camp as a free agent.

It would be nice to see Glavic, Brannagan and Faulds get a shot with a team in the CFL.
But it is great to see that many CIS players in the top 15. And all of them are excellent players (Cory Greenwood and Shomari Williams are going to be stars for someone). It is good to know that CIS football is now getting respect with all the talent that exists in the country.

  2. Glavic could play the CFL but most likely as a WR not QB.
I'm afraid Brannagan's chances of playing pro are next to nil.
He simply lacks to the mobility to function in today's CFL.
The best way for a CIS quarterback to have a shot at playing his position in the CFL is to be versatile.
Russ Jackson coming out of Mac was a DB before he became the Riders staring QB.
Of course, that was over 50 years ago...
