  • Western coach Greg Marshall notes his team "could not afford to lose" defensive end Scott Fournier, one of their best men against the run. Running back Nathan Riva, the OUA touchdown leader, admitted his knee was "swollen" after getting banged up vs. U of T. (London Free Press)

  • The McMaster Marauders, the first 6-2 team to have to travel for an OUA quarter-final, lost by one point in their one road loss. Oddly enough, the Marauders hosted Ottawa in '07 and '08 — but won there in 2006, their first visit under coach Stefan Ptaszek — so a lot of Marauders are making the long trip for the first time. (Hamilton Spectator)

  • As noted, The Score will broadcast both games Nov. 7, the OUA's Semifinal Saturday. Queen's will host the 1 p.m. game and Laurier will host the second semi at 4:30.

  • It sounds like St. Thomas Tommies defenceman Bryan Main will be fine after the "scary-looking injury" where he crashed into the boards during a race for the puck with Dalhousie's Ben Van Lare on Saturday, resulting in a 35-minute delay. Main might miss STU's game vs. UNB on Wednesday.

The coaches had the stock responses, with STU's Mike Eagles saying it was "a terribly dangerous play" on the part of Van Lare and Dal's Pete Belliveau saying there was "no intent." (Fredericton Daily Gleaner)

  1. Mac was actually at Ottawa in 2006 (Ptaszek's 1st year) and beat the Gee Gees in a very good game, 24-19.
