The other new addition to the OUA men's hockey league, the UOIT Ridgebacks, had an impressize-sized crowd of 1,000 at the Campus Ice Centre in Oshawa last night for their first-ever regular-season game, a 3-2 shootout loss to the Queen's Golden Gaels. Some teams in the OUA would give up the massage table and the team bus to have that kind of turnout on a regular basis. Former Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Rob Pearson, who's signed on as an assistant coach, has apparently taken on the task of doing a lot of work to promote the team in the community with regular radio appearances.
A former Oshawa General, Queen's goalie Ryan Gibb, held off the Ridgebacks, after giving up the tying goal to UOIT's T.J. Legge with four seconds left in regulation time.
not a bad start for the Ridgebacks. I'm sure they'll be well recieved by 2700+ fans when they visit Lakehead University on November 16th
